Demat Account
A 'Bank Account' but for shares. When you buy shares, they are stored digitally in this account.
You cannot buy shares without a Demat account. In the past, shares were paper certificates, but now they are digital. You must renew your Demat account annually (usually costs Rs. 100 per year). Forget to renew and your shares might stage a dramatic protest – like a load-shedding schedule gone wrong!

डिम्याट खाता (Demat Account)
शेयर राख्ने 'बैंक खाता'। जसरी पैसा बैंकमा राखिन्छ,, शेयरहरू यस खातामा सुरक्षित राखिन्छ।
डिम्याट खाता बिना तपाईं शेयर किन्न सक्नुहुन्न। पहिले शेयरहरू कागजको प्रमाणपत्र हुन्थे, तर अहिले सबै डिजिटल छन्। तपाईंले हरेक वर्ष आफ्नो डिम्याट खाता नवीकरण गर्नुपर्छ (प्रायः १०० रुपैयाँ लाग्छ)। नवीकरण बिर्सियो भने शेयरहरूले लोडसेडिङ तालिका जस्तो विद्रोह गर्न सक्छन्!
